Life’s lessons aren’t always easy
Going through one of the hardest times in my life and hitting rock bottom made me, and still is making me, stand stronger than ever before. I hope that I can be just that little bit of encouragement or motivation for someone else way out there that thinks there is no hope or that nothing is ever going to be any different to stand back up and dust off and realize that we get one chance at this thing we call “life.” And, the only person that can define you is ”you”.
Sometimes we get caught up in a routine that the days just pass us by, then one day things come to sudden stop. Could be tragedy or devastation or waking up in critical care or many, many, other situations. It’s then we do the “looking back at time that has passed” and wonder just where the time has gone and how did we get ourselves in such a fog.
We will never get that time back but we can sure make tomorrow worth while, there is hope for a better tomorrow whatever walk of life you are in. Don’t take anything for granted, never give up and each day cherish a little more and love a little deeper.

All good things must come to an end
As we are in the home stretch of speech class. I would like to thank all my classmates for just being who they are, it has made our speech class unique as we came together as individuals each in our separate paths of life and made this class an awesome success. Thank you to Mrs. Candee Basford, your encouragement and kind words will never be forgotten.

Inspired by little voices
When I was preparing for my reading speech I had so many thoughts about what I could read. I noticed myself beginning to become nervous about speaking, so I decided to talk to my “little mommy army” (my kids) about my assignment. My kids response was, “Mom you know what would be the coolest thing to read, Green Eggs and Ham because it is the best when you read it at home.” So, my favorite thing about my reading speech was my kids were the inspiration and they were the story behind the story. I was still nervous even though I have read this book many, many times to my kids.
I believe making myself realize that the audience in one way or another can relate, agree, have compassion, or simply enjoy the speech when its meaningful to me will stand true in all my speeches. Something I learned from this experience is do not doubt your speech, it will be all you make it to be. THANK YOU to all my classmates who reminisced on this Dr. Seuss classic with me!

Just a Few Thoughts
I didn’t intend on making any changes to my schedule until I got a last-minute letter saying my English class had been cancelled, I needed the 3-4 credit hours to stay full-time and there wasn’t many options for me. So, here I am in Speech Class facing one of my biggest fears, speaking in front of people. Had lots of doubts about making this class a success story, then I started listening and getting involved and realized this class is something I do everyday but in an organized fashion.
So, we have done some talking, some visual demonstrations, some reading from our text-book and my thoughts in a summary are; The voice that a speech has is very important along with correct pausing makes the words have meaning because they can be clearly understood and comprehended. The rate of the voice is just as equally important, when a speaker delivers to fast the speech can be under rated or misunderstood, if a speaker delivers at a very slow pace a voice could be monotone or just simply cause boredom. A speakers eye contact with their audience is key for a base connection. If there is little or no eye contact the audience will be very disconnected from the speech. Putting positive movement and expressions within the speech will show the audience what its meaning is on a personable level. I was very nervous, I am still a little tense just about the position and having to speak aloud but my encouragement to myself is “I know who I am, and what I am capable of .”
