I saved this class for last.

I’m usually the one to keep to myself in classes; this class requires just the opposite.  Not that it’s bad to be more outgoing in life, it’s just tougher for some people.  I’m really not backward in everyday life, there’s just something about being put on the spot to speak in front of a group of people.  It’s much easier to talk about something that you’re interested in and knowledgeable about.  Maybe that’s why I always dreaded doing presentations back in high school on subjects that I had no interest in.  I like that Candee wants us to be ourselves and no one else, this is obviously the easiest way to complete a presentation.  Simply put if you know what you’re talking about you’ll probably be alright, but if you just walk into a presentation without any prior research or experience, there’s a good chance things won’t go so well.  Preparation is key.

The truth is that no matter what occupation you choose in life you can’t get around the fact that speech is an important factor in your success.  You must have good communication skills to achieve tasks and get along with your co-workers.  If you’re confident with these skills you’ll have a much better chance of making a good first impression in an interview, which, in turn leads to a job; the reason we’re all in college to begin with.
