First Speech

Hunter S. Thompson

Today was our first speech in class and we had to bring in a reading. At first I didn’t know what to bring in to read, I looked all over for anything. Then I decided to read a part out of my favorite book Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas. I thought my speech was awful. When I got up in front of the class I froze. Everyone else before me made it look so easy. They were calm, made good eye contact, and did really good. But after I fumbled through the first paragraph I started to calm down. So my advice for anyone reading a speech, stay calm, practice your speech before you give it, and try to make eye contact. I don’t think I did any of these things but I know what to do for next time.
