The Stone Game

Our class played the stone game yesterday, and I just wanted to ramble a little about what I felt/saw.

Many of us were still uber-nervous.  If we are anxious in a round table discussion, we are going to be nervous all alone in front of the class…If we realize that we all share a common bond, maybe just maybe, our confidence will get a lil’ boost and this speech giving process won’t be so bad.

Somehow, we must find the power inside of ourselves to let go. Let go of our fear and worries.

Our instructor has mentioned repeatedly that one of the most important things she wants us to attempt to do is find OUR voices. During the game, people were so nervous when it got to be their turn, many simply repeated verbatim what everyone else said. I want to seriously urge everyone to offer something. We all have something to offer.

Worry often gives a small thing a big shadow.  ~Swedish Proverb

This game gives the people to freely say what they want. I was nervous, but found it to be easier than I thought. The ways of expression whether shy or not makes it easier to relate with one another. It is not so simple to be so open, however friendships develop. The age difference in the classroom with diverse opinions makes it more enjoyable.I have a feeling that there is a lot to learn and I can say with certainty I am up to it, as many of the other students are too.

I agree everyone is finding themselves in many ways. Friendship does develope with time. As we go on in class we are all learning from each other and it is becoming more and more certain that we are all developing new ideas and opinions. I know that we all can overcome anything! Sincerely,Joan
