What I Learned

I finished my first speech for Speech class and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. When I woke up that morning I practiced my speech over and over again. Then I came into the classroom nervous as can be. My hands were shaking and my voice was cutting in and out as I was practicing to my friend. I was going to wait and go last to give my speech, but I changed my mind and went third. While standing at the podium I can feel my body shaking and I was hoping everyone could not see it. I began to read my book aloud and all I could think about was hurrying it up and sitting down in my seat. I was reading a little to fast to get it done.

There are several things I learned after giving my first speech. I found out that giving a speech was not as bad as I thought. Also, even though I knew I was nervous nobody else could really tell. I have learned to slow down when I talk so that the audience can understand what I am saying. Next time I will take my gum out, too. Those are just a few things I learned from giving my first speech.
